Implemented a BizTalk Server integration platform connecting their citizen-request (311) system with numerous City line-of-business applications spanning property inspection, mosquito control, work orders, and animal control.

• Integrating many disparate line-of-business systems with differing interfaces and formats.
• Transforming and routing messages accurately between their alerting system and each target system.
• Designing a highly available, fault-tolerant production architecture.

Eligibility BizTalk Solution

Delivered a scalable, HIPAA 5010-compliant eligibility solution for a healthcare SaaS provider, using a message-translator pattern to receive eligibility requests, enrich them from external systems, exchange X12 270/271 EDI transactions with the TransUnion trading partner, and return results to the originating eligibility service bus.

Challenges

• Meeting the HIPAA 5010 mandate while re-architecting an eligibility service that did not scale as an enterprise offering.
• Isolating client data, PHI, and healthcare concerns to fit a multi-tenant software-as-a-service model.
• Handling synchronous and asynchronous requests with retry logic for TransUnion responses and archiving native 271 transactions.

ERP & Warehouse Integration

Built BizTalk ESB integrations to synchronize item, item image, and pricing data between the Dynamics AX ERP and downstream warehouse and front-end commerce systems.

• Correcting item and league identifier mapping errors that affected warehouse operations and the storefront.

Large-scale revenue cycle management

Replaced a proprietary Cloverleaf integration engine with a BizTalk-based HL7 hub for their patient accounting system, adding real-time transaction auditing, automatic acknowledgments, and self-service resubmission of failed messages.

Challenges

• Migrating off a proprietary Cloverleaf engine that reformatted HL7 messages and required specialized developers.

HIPAA 5010 Mandate

Worked for the publishing team, we manage the X12 standards and had to update the X12 version to 5010.

• Microsoft is the client, we are to provide new 5010 schemas for Microsoft's BizTalk Platform
• Understanding this standard body technology at the lowest level was a challenge and an education.

Healthcare ESB Modernization

Modernized a suite of batch scripts and executables into a BizTalk Server ESB platform for HL7/HIPAA messaging, including Medicare 835 processing and prototype McKesson and Allscripts integrations with BAM-based business intelligence.

Challenges

• Build a custom BizTalk adapter for their legacy Sybase system
• Processing incoming EDI 835 Medicare transactions and normalizing disparate formats.

Case Exchange System

Replaced a brittle Windows-service 'Field Service Anywhere' solution with a web-based case exchange platform that integrated the client's Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) Field Service ERP with two Hewlett-Packard access points (OVSD and GSEM). BizTalk Server handled messaging, routing, and reliable asynchronous delivery of service tickets under the HP service-level agreement, with a SharePoint UI for call coordinators and a field force of 600+ technicians.

• Replacing an unreliable Windows-service solution whose business logic was locked in code and lacked reliable, asynchronous delivery.
• Integrating two disparate HP access points (OVSD and GSEM) with the Great Plains Field Service ERP.
• Resolving cross-time-zone ticket scenarios and control-character encoding issues in the exchanged messages.
• Eliminating data-sync problems and the overhead of managing client installs across 600+ technicians.

Retail Rating Solution

Designed and built an enterprise telecom traffic rating platform to import, rate, and export call traffic, spanning operational and history databases, a data mart, web workflow UI, windows services, and reporting/analysis services, plus a lightweight QA rating tool.

• Processing large traffic datasets efficiently, including off-peak batch rating windows.

Direct Billing System

Designed and delivered on a new system to collect on unbilled call records; normally reserved as bad debt, locate the owners of those calls, and prepare bills which fall outside of the local exchange carriers.

Plan de Mantención (Maintenance Plan)

A pre-CRM lead generation platform that ingested call records (call traffic) into the system, categorized customers, and applied a range of algorithmic and business-rule checks. The output was a set of categorized leads that were routed to the appropriate marketing campaigns.

First Notable Integration

Developed and deployed an enterprise-level data integration pipeline to bridge a legacy medical staffing system with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) financial software. Built utilizing a hybrid architecture of Clipper, Visual Basic 6.0, and Windows Services, the solution automated the secure extraction, transformation, and ingestion of high-volume payroll, billing, and operational healthcare data into a centralized SQL Server database. This implementation eliminated critical data silos, streamlined financial reconciliation, and modernized reporting capabilities for our corporate operations.
